L’altare dedicato a S. Pietro Apostolo è realizzato in marmo di Carrara con colonne a macchie di diaspro
e giallo di Torri.
Vi è posta la pala con i Santi Apostoli Pietro e Giacomo o Allegoria del papato, che insieme alla Madonna in gloria con il Bambino e le anime del Purgatorio (primo altare a destra) appartengono alla produzione tarda dell’artista Antonio Zanchi (Este 1631 - Venezia 1722).

Le due tele documentano l’evoluzione dello stile che da soluzioni fortemente chiaroscurate e naturalistiche approda a formule più pacate sia nell’uso del colore sia nelle composizioni che si fanno meno affollate.
Le due opere trovano corrispondenza nei dipinti dello Zanchi conservati nella chiesa della Salute di Este

The altar dedicated to St. Peter the Apostle is made of Carrara marble with jasper-stained columns
and Torri yellow.
There is the altarpiece with the Holy Apostles Peter and James or Allegory of the Papacy, which together with the Madonna in glory with the Child and the souls in Purgatory (first altar on the right) belong to the late production of the artist Antonio Zanchi (Este 1631 - Venice 1722).

The two canvases document the evolution of the style which from strongly chiaroscuro and naturalistic solutions arrives at calmer formulas both in the use of color and in the compositions which become less crowded.
